Love you're recap and most of your rant. I disagree withe "just follow everyone else" approach....by that logic a flying bike mount/dismount would be classified as cheating and I have seen you do those many times (mostly with success). My point is that there is room for strategy and course management and I agree that there are rules that must be interpreted. Cutting a marked corner=cheating. Using the sidewalk on an unmarked corner....well that's a little different. Too your point, cutting a turn bouy= cheating....verging inside the course marker bouys totally acceptable. I was not as fortunate to be in the first wave of this race ... I was in with the more "mature" age group...I think the organizers knew the 35-39 needed a head start.... there were zero markers around the crab shack nor voulenteers and every athlete I saw (including myself) opted for the shaded route. I 100% agree with the spirit and intent of your rant, I just disagree on a few of the examples. Saw your times....nice work.

I watched the mini this year by Churchill Downs on Central. Slowly but surely runners started to cross the median and run on the left until almost all of the runners were in the left lane and only a few on the right. I will say that I believe it is the race directors responsibility to make the course clear. I know that I don't want to have to think or worry where to go when I'm on the run in a tri. I'm usually tired and concentrating on me and don't want to have to worry about the course. If it's not clear then it's the race directors issue.
