Supplement Review – Omega 3 and Vitamin D3
You don’t have to look far to find an article touting the benefits of fish oil. There have been a number of clinical trials assessing the benefits of dietary supplementation with fish oils in several inflammatory and autoimmune diseases in humans, including rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, psoriasis, lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis and migraine headaches. Many of the placebo-controlled trials of fish oil in chronic inflammatory diseases reveal significant benefits, including decreased disease activity and a lowered use of anti-inflammatory drugs.
There are several studies, including this one, that have concluded that taking a high-quality Omega-3 (fish oil) supplement is equivalent to taking ibuprofen when attempting to reduce the pain associated with neck and back pain…without the many, MANY side effects of ibuprofen.
I used to take a generic fish oil capsule off of the shelves of Meijer…then I realized how that was doing me more harm than good. You can read about that experience here. Now I take an Omega-3 supplement made by Minami Nutrition. Their unique formula delivers an unprecedented 1,100mg of Omega-3 nutrition and gives the bonus of a Vitamin D3 supplement in a single capsule.
If you want to lower your blood pressure, vitamin D may be just what the doctor ordered. If you’re trying to reduce your risk of diabetes, or lower your chances of heart attacks, rheumatoid arthritis, or multiple sclerosis, then vitamin D should be at the front of the line in your daily supplement regimen. So it’s nice that the Omega-3 and Vitamin D are combined in a single supplement!

I have recently started to take Vitamin D and B12 as I primarily vegan. Plan on adding a few more supplements as well! In the new year I plan to get back to the gym, and cardio especially!
